Program Overview New Program Overview
Since its founding in the 1960s, UT Dallas has grown to have an enrollment of more than 28,750 students and more than 140 degree programs. Offering top-ranked science, engineering and business programs, UT Dallas has gained prominence for a breadth of educational paths from audiology to arts and technology. UT Dallas’ faculty includes a Nobel laureate, six members of the National Academies and more than 560 tenured and tenure-track professors.

Students may choose any open classes that they are eligible for in the course book. There is a wide variety of courses available for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Academic Programs Application Process
Your home university submits your nomination to UT Dallas before the deadline.
If approved, you will be asked to complete the admissions application via the Comets Abroad Portal and send additional documents (official transcripts in English and original language, official English proficiency exam score, etc.)

If admitted, you will:
  • Apply for on-campus housing and pay the housing application fee.
  • Be contacted by the International Student Services Office for additional documentation to issue the DS-2019 (financial documents, passport, request form, etc.)
  • Register for international student orientation.
  • If under 22 years of age, you must receive a meningitis vaccination. This can be obtained overseas.
Upon receipt of the DS-2019, you will obtain a US visa and make travel arrangements.

Housing Housing
Arrangements are made for exchange students to live in the on-campus residence halls or furnished on-campus apartments.  See details and pricing on the University Housing webpage. Living expenses include housing, food, books, transportation, and other costs. It is estimated that exchange students spend approximately $9,000 per semester.
 
If students wish to live in off-campus apartments, which are mostly unfurnished, they must find and arrange them on their own.

Student Visa Student Visa
There are several steps to applying for a J-1 visa. Shortly after your admission to UT Dallas, the International Student Services Office (ISSO) will contact you about the J-1 immigration process and any documents needed to issue your DS-2019.  Additional information can be found on the J-1 Students webpage.

Testimonials Transfer of Credit
Upon completion of your program at UT Dallas, you are responsible for requesting your transcript from the Registrar. In order to request your transcripts, ensure your UT Dallas account has a zero dollar balance and that there are no holds on your account. For more information, visit the Transcripts webpage
